• You can find an accurate quote calculator online. Utilize it so you have an idea of pricing in your area.
• Be specific tell the movers exactly what you need and your goals for the move.
• Don’t settle if you do not feel safe or confident go with a different company.
• Remember that price is not indicative of work ethic, reliability, or professionalism.
• Make sure you are working with a legitimate company with a can do, yes attitude.
• Do make sure you ask about mileage, fuel charges and taxes. Each moving company is different and has a variety of ways to sneak in charges. Make sure you ask about taxes as well. Most companies have a standard California public utilities commission charge. And most charge for double drive time. Be sure all charges are listed clearly in the formal proposal or moving contract.
• Taxes can range anywhere from 12% to 20%. This can be a huge increase in billing if you are not aware of such charges.
• All companies should send you a formal agreement that both parties agree upon. You are only required to pay for what has been clearly outlined in the moving agreement. Read the contract do not just sign on the dotted line.
